Eating Green from the Deep Blue Sea
By Lindsay Babich

On Sunday I go to the beach to worship. No, not a craven idol of cowrie or a golden calf of manatee but the stunning Source Creation called Ocean.

My walk on the beach is combined worship, mental decompression and exploration. I was relieved this past week that I saw no tar on the beach, no rainbow of oil slick on the warm luscious sea water in which I floated. But there was a splash of concern; a wave of real fear swept over me as I allowed a grain of pessimism about human impact on the liquid blue of our “Blue Planet” and its living creatures. Water is the very lifeblood of our planet and the living bounty a necessary source of sustenance. Note the word necessary.

It is a practical next step from concern to ask about a solution. A child of the 70’s, I resonate with the mantra “Think Globally, Act Locally.” That brings me to my seafood consumption.

How Green Is Your Golf Course?
by Charlotte McGinnis

The majority of golfers thinks that being on the golf course, in the fresh air and in the midst of nature, is a healthy way to spend the day! I too, was under that impression.

Hang with me…

About 10 years ago, I took an online health test which was designed to find out the magic number of how long I would live. One of the questions was, “How many times a week do you play golf?” Proudly, I responded 3+ times a week thinking that would add years to my life! I found out later that my answer took away years.

How can this be? The answer was not so obvious at the time as it is now, but definitely got my attention. Toxicity! I should have gotten the message when I used to show up on the driving range early in the morning ready to greet my students, waiting to set up my teaching area as the maintenance crew sprayed the practice tee, WEARING GAS MASKS! They were spraying pesticides and chemicals.

But you know us golfers! We dont want any bugs in our way ̶ and we want our course pristine! Not only do the chemicals create a topical toxin, the runoff into the water source has become an even greater problem. And that brings up another important issue…

2012 What Does It Mean?
by Lindsay Babich

Last month we explored the healing red light and purple amethyst crystals of the BioMat. The BioMat represents high tech healing and many, including the renowned Dr. Oz, believe that energy and vibrational healing are the future of medicine. Richard Gerber, M.D., author of Vibrational Medicine claims that Harvard has the textbook ready.

At the close of this first decade of this new century – the 21st of the Gregorian Calendar – the ultimate question we may ask is: Will we be here to enjoy the benefits of this shift to quantum medicine? That question is prompted on one hand by our excessive exploitation of our planet and its resources and alternately by the Maya Sacred Round and Long Count calendars. The exact mathematic calculations scientific marvels tracking not only solar years but the rotations of Venus and other planets to shape grand cycles. We can only guess at how these so called primitive peoples were able to map so accurately the movement of the planets, the pitch of our earth’s axis and project the import of the portentous date of 12/21/2012.

The exploration of 2012 – manifest by virtue of the “end” the ancient Mayan calendar – the ominous phenomena has been described by various camps as the end of the world or the beginning of a bright new future. So what’s it going to be and how do we know?

Zen Golf, “Life and Golf in Balance”
by Charlotte McGinnis

If you are a golfer or know someone who is a golfer, then you know how addictive the game can become. It’s amazing! Once you hit that first shot on the “sweet spot,” you’re hooked. Golf has become the center of your universe. You think of ways to scoot out of work early to get to the course for a quick 9 holes, or you want to get to the driving range to work on the latest tip you read in Golf Digest or heard on the Golf Channel. Then it’s off to the golf megastore to buy the latest technology that guarantees to add 30 yards to your drive and make 90% of your putts go in the hole!

After spending thousands of dollars and countless hours on equipment, lessons and swing aids, for many the game does not reflect the time and money put into it. You still have a monster slice, water terrifies you and you have a “yip” with the putter that just won’t give up. What is a golfer to do?

Having been a teacher of the game for 30 years and given literally thousands of lessons to men, women and children with the dreams of becoming everything from a respectful golfer to a professional caliber player, the results they were seeking were not always found on the driving range!

Red Light, Green Light…
by Rev. Lindsay Babich

With all the focus on green, I keep thinking that the other colors may be feeling ignored. Let’s take red, for example, the color of my ruling planet, Mars. Red conjures up some good thoughts for me and some not so good. Heirloom beefsteak tomatoes, strawberries, apples, red roses and valentine hearts ̶ all good. Fire, blood and cayenne peppers ̶ good and bad depending upon the circumstances and quantities. Inflammation ̶ always bad!

Even the American Medical Association cried uncle a few years ago and admitted, however belatedly, that inflammation is the source of most diseases. Inflammatory cytokines, which are destructive cell-signaling chemicals, contribute substantially to the advance of many degenerative diseases. Chronic systemic inflammation increases with aging and plays a major role in the infirmities of the “golden” years.

Among the diseases related to chronic inflammation are: Allergies, Alzheimer’s, Anemia, Arthritis, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Fibrosis, Kidney Failure, Lupus, Pancreatitis, Psoriasis, Stroke and even surgical complications (blocking the healing process), to name just a few. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

2012 It ’s Your Choice – The Green Heart Solution
by Charlotte McGinnis

Once upon a time, we knew who we were in truth. Once upon a time, we loved one another. Once upon a time, we were not afraid. Once upon a time… What happened?

Now we live in a world where people are afraid, a world where we feel the need to engage in war. We live in a world in which people think that there is not enough. We have been asleep, living in a dream of fear. Now it is time to wake up!

As we move to 2012, there are as many theories about what lies ahead as there are people on the planet. Here is another one! I envision a world of infinite possibilities where every man, woman and child can be, do and have everything they desire! I envision a world of peace. I envision a world where only love exists. Although these visions may seem lofty to some, I know they are possible. Possible, yes, but we have some work to do.

Envy’s Green…and So Am I
by Rev. Lindsay Babich

Envy, the other side of Green – dark green, very dark green. Who among us hasn’t turned green with envy? The source may be different for all of us. For example, big boobs, a Ferrari, a Swiss chalet, a loaf of bread, a roof.

Envy is a human emotion and why this one was colored “green” in our lexicon is out of my reach. So, don’t be envious. Americans usually relate the color to money. What I do know is that our nature as humans is to be emotional and sometimes that’s green.

Now here’s my scientific conundrum ̶ I went green and no longer “turn green.”

I have discovered, quaintly enough, that there is a “natural, 100% pure-beyond-organic distilled product that can change my color to rosy-cheeked and healthy. These green elixers are so important to life that they are actually called “Essential Oils.”

Used for thousands of years by humans, millions by animals and millennia as self-protective plant aids, essential oils share their complex, beneficial properties with us now – if you smell the truth.
